Orphaned dogs and prospective guardians can participate in online 'dating' on the web sites of the various shelters found in Petfinder.com. But personal touch and physical contact is the key to a successful courtship. Such was the case when we went to El Monte to view a dog at Beagles and Buddies. The canine we had seen on B&B's web site didn't have anywhere near the appeal of 'Scooty', the
8-month old Spaniel mix who attached himself to us as soon as we entered the gate.
He would continue to follow us for the next half hour as we toured the shelter, alternating lovable glances with his big eyes, and 'kisses.' He was insistent that we choose him. We left with 'Scooty' (since renamed Shavu) in the back seat of our car and he has been in the forefront of our thoughts ever since. He is a most welcome addition to our home, where his intelligence and affection is truly cherished. You can see by the photo that he is learning to read the morning paper as part of his daily routine.
We were impressed with the closeness and care shown by the Beagles & Buddies family and their helpfulness in our adoption.
