Poodle mix Odie featured in Wahl's 2020 Dirty Dogs calendar
Little 10 year old Odie, a miniature poodle mix, came into our rescue on May 21, 2019, frightened and matted. Three days later, a wonderful groomer named Jessica Meyer came in with a friend to look at dogs. She liked our rescue so much that she offered to become a volunteer. Odie was her first project, and his makeover was amazing. His before and after pictures were submitted to the annual Wahl's Dirty Dog Contest, which judges grooming efforts from rescues across the nation. Odie made it all the way to the Top Ten. This earned him a spot in Wahl's 2020 Dirty Dogs calendar! He is the dog for October. The calendar may be bought here.

His fame also landed him on the front page of the local paper, The Daily Press. Click here for the article.

B&B alumna Millie featured in AKC article
In the fall of 2018, the American Kennel Club chose beagle/pug Millie for their "Canine Partners Spotlight". Millie had been at our rescue in the spring of 2017. She was such a sweet and smart girl that she was picked by the US Customs and Border Patrol to join their Beagle Brigade that sniffs out contraband in airports. Click here for the article.

Beagles and Buddies honored by Lowes Hero Program!
On October 25, 2016, the High Desert's Daily Press newspaper covered our makeover generously provided by the Lowes Hero Program. Lowes volunteers installed new appliances, painted, and even built a new visitors' area. The picture above shows our adoption center before (bottom) and after (top) the makeover. Saving K-9 Lives with Beagles and Buddies
Saving K-9 Lives filmed a PSA starring Ed Begley, Jr. and his lovely wife Rachelle Carson-Begley on the grounds of Organically Grown's headquarters. Saving K-9 Lives is also involved in promoting related charities, such as Operation Blankets of Love and our own Beagles and Buddies!

Beagles & Buddies Alumna featured in a book

Author Ellen Eastwood sent an email letting us know about her amazing book with Sydney on the cover!

"Your organization helped us find our forever friend, Sydney. Sydney is a Beagle/Lab with an infectious enthusiasm for life; she has brought us immeasurable joy. She's also been an inspiration to myself, as a writer. Together, we created a book about hiking with dogs which will be available from Wilderness Press." Click here to read more about the book.

Newton the famous puppy in the news again!

Check out famous B&B alum Newton at his Google job w/ Mom Juliana. His dad works (plays) there, too!

The article states that "Dogs are fairly common at startups, not at a company as big as Google. As long as the dogs are well behaved, they're welcome at the Googleplex."

Did you see Sugar on Desperate Housewives?
Below is a picture of the scene that Sugar was in on Desperate Housewives (look carefully, she's there on the sidewalk in front of the yellow taxi!)

The winner of a free B&B t-shirt is: Sugar's caregivers, Karen and Lawrence! Thanks to them for sending us the image from the show as well.

B&B, dog adoption to the stars!

Tawny Cypress of NBC's hit show "Heroes" adopts a "Lump of Coal" puppy as companion for her gorgeous cocker/cavalier mix. Yeah, Tawny... you are our hero!

A Grant From Disney!

Dr. Kathy Fuller attended a grant recipient awards reception at Disney Studios as the representative from Beagles and Buddies. This grant will provide very needed plumbing at Red Cloud Ranch. Thanks goes out to Disney for its support of a variety of philanthropic endeavors and for helping our four legged friends who have been neglected or forgotten. Thanks also to Mr. Jack Levic who nominated B&B for this grant. It's friends like you who make this world a better place for all!

Special Adoption Day
"Snoopy, Come Home" DVD Debut

On March 26, 2006 B&B hosted a gala premiere screening of the 'Snoopy, Come Home' DVD for over 40 Beagle guests of honor to coincide with the unveiling of a renovated space for adopting families at our Red Cloud Ranch facility.

Thanks to Paramount Entertainment and Paradigm Shift Worldwide for the gift of transforming our ugly garage to a beautiful Snoopy Doghouse Adoption Center! We'll all be enjoying our "extreme make-over" for a long time and it'll surely facilitate visiting and adopting our Snoopies and their pals.

HomeAgain donated permanent pet identification and recovery services to adopted dogs at this event. Charlie Brown and Snoopy costume characters were on hand, and in spirit of Lucy's kissing booth, a smoochy Beagle booth provided even more fun!

Beagles, Doxies and the Opera!

The Los Angeles High School for the Arts' Full Circle Opera Project performed The Marriage of Figaro at the Luckman Theatre on the campus of CSULA in March of 2006. Two dogs from Beagles and Buddies had their operatic debut in this production. Dot, a 2 year old beagle girl looking for a home and everyone's friend, Tinkerbell, the therapy dachshund with a disability and emissary of good.

Tinkerbell was given to B&B by her "family." She was disabled due to a back injury and only had half of her hair due to excessive amounts of fleas and mange. The $20 check donated by her family for caring for her for the rest of her life even bounced! B&B fitted her with a doggie cart and she was adopted. Since that rescue 6 years ago, she has become somewhat of a celebrity. She is certified through Therapy Dog International and visits classrooms, retirement homes, the local Children's Hospital and Ronald McDonald houses, bringing a message of hope and love. She has been in newspapers, in a book (Rescued Tails, Vol.1 - scroll down for more info) and her first feature length film comes out this summer, "The Man In The Chair" with Christopher Plummer and Robert Wagner (she's a pound puppy extra!) Keep an eye out for her childrens' book coming out soon, "Weiner With A Heart."

Hi, I'm Dot! I'm a two year old girl who would love to play and go exploring with you. My original family moved to another state and they left me at the animal shelter. It was soooooo cold and scary there! I didn't understand why they weren't coming back for me. I was sad and lonely until one of the nice rescuers from Beagles and Buddies saw me and took me to their "Red Cloud Ranch." I'm making lots of friends here. I wish I had my own forever family, though. Please come meet all of us beagles and buddies. There are all kinds of breeds, sizes and playfulness levels here who just want to love and be loved by you... then, all of our stories will have happy endings!

B&B and 'Rescue Railroad" in the news...

The rescue railroad broadens the reach of the animal-rescue community. It allows adopted animals to be delivered to new owners hundreds of miles away, or gives animals facing euthanasia at a county shelter a second chance at a private shelter. We were recently featured in a great article in the "Fresno Bee" which shed's more light on the "railroad".

B&B rescues the Chi's...

The following article was in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune about B&B rescuing and rehabilitating some of the very frightened chihuahuas that were at the Baldwin Park Animal Shelter for over 8 months. At the time of the interview they had been with us for l0 days. Click here to read more...

Kim Basinger supports B&B!

Kim Basinger in the Feb l998 Ladies Home Journal with one of our beagles. Since she is so fond of animals she wanted a rescued dog rather than a professional model. We were very pleased that this little cute guy was chosen! One of her staff subsequently adopted him.

Ollie and his Trolley in the news!

The Bay Area newspaper "Mercury News" just published the inspiring story of Ollie who was saved by Beagles & Buddies and fitted with a cart.
